This project highlights the embrace of one's own beauty and acceptance of one's own
ethnicity and authenticity by including all shapes, sizes, and colors of noses and translated
through a minimal high-end jewelry brand called "Re-"


Re- is a new handmade contemporary jewelry brand that focuses on embracing a facial feature that has, for so long, been considered as an obstruction to the overall facial beauty; the nose. Re- is an invitation to re-visit, re-embrace, re-imagine, and re-ignite genuine self-acceptance, setting the standards for authentic beauty.




Re- has two specific objectives with the branding. First, to stand out and become a distinctive, inclusive contemporary jewelry brand - and first, to invite its people to re-visit, re-embrace, reimagine, and re-ignite genuine self-acceptance, which re-sets the standards for what was once considered authentic beauty.




The story Re- holds is to be established by producing customized pieces that flatter all shapes and sizes of the targeted facial feature, the nose. The pieces will further accentuate the beauty of the nose shape and redeem authenticity.





Re- is a capstone project by Jana Mouazen, an AUD Graphic Design student. The theme for this capstone project that was given to the creatives was "heroism."

Approaching this project, Jana Mouazen observed how common it was for people to dislike their nose. To understand where this hate stemmed from, she learned through history courses, movies, and from day-to-day interactions how the beauty standards around the world affected everyone's daily life. Delving more into the history of colonization, by consuming professional speeches and medical reports, she came to the conclusion that colonists enforced upon it to the colonized the intense desire for euro-centric beauty ideals of a "button nose" come from the European colonization of the east.


Re-define.

To tackle this issue, Jana Mouazen created a nose jewelry brand to inspire confidence and encourage people to embrace their heritage and origins through the nooks and crannies of their nose. Every bump, curve, and slope. Whether it's big, tiny, short, long, large, straight, thin, crooked, pointed, sharp, aquiline, flattened, snub, bulbous, or turned-up, redefine your beauty standard, re-think what you have been taught, re-embrace yourself.
